The development of the camera and its use by artists over the last few hundred years has enabled  many  to understand and further develop their paintings.

It may have provided the detail or put things into perspective but it has also enabled them to see more.

From the early camera obscura to the latest digital camera images are transferred to a range of media to be manipulated.

Today images are converted electronically and available immediately.
We can see more and we can change more. We can experiment with colour and contrast, we can change the focal point, harden or soften the edges, add or delete items, and we can even print on a variety of watercolour papers.

We have an immediate electronic sketchbook.

However, we still need imagination and design, we still need an artist's eye.

They have provided me with inspiration.
