Artist Notes

David Humphries lives and paints full time in East Yorkshire.

Mixed media, oil, watercolour, acrylic ink and collage are all used to create textural impressionism.

The emphasis being upon capturing not only the image but the inherent feel of the subject in an expeditious way.

Over recent years new developments have seen his work expand to include monoprints, photographic art, collage art and fractal art.

Each medium adding an interpretation to the next.

Originally trained at the University of Aston and Bradford a significant part of his early career involved the transmission of images but for the last 18 years he has been devoted to creating images.

He is the author of three art  books The Art Of Looking, Halfway Round and Which Way?

His paintings have been in exhibitions in Beverley, the Ferens Art Gallery in Hull, Helmsley, Leeds, Sheffield and in York at The Blake Gallery.
